According to the CEO of AIMS, Chiew Kok Hin, “We take the onus in remembering and supporting the glimpse of society who are less fortunate. That is why this Group has even set up a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team, which demonstrates our commitment in giving.”
The Group has been particularly supportive of GSH over the years as it homes to more than 40 children, ranging from 3 months old to 17 years old. “It is this age range that the physical and emotional needs are at its climax. It is also this age that a child is shaped to be who they are in the future. Thankfully, the founder of GSH showered the children with utmost love and discipline. They emphasise good value and proper education, which is why 7 of the grown-ups are currently studying in universities.” says Chiew. Founded in January 1999 by Pastor Albert Ong and his wife, GSH cares for children from troubled families- whose parents have abandoned them, divorced, or having to lose either parent or both parents. The home seeks not only to provide for their physical and material needs, but also to minister to their emotional and psychological needs especially in the light of their broken family backgrounds.
“The GSH is a typical NGO which we get some funds from the government. Therefore, we still need external material and financial supporters like MSB, who has been providing schooling and basic essentials. My wife and I cared for the children without preference to any skin color, family background or even age.” says Mrs Ong, co-founder or Founder of GSH.
Mrs Ong further shared that the MSB has been very generous with the basic consumption contributions; and other essential donations like school uniforms, shoes and bags.
“The Group will continue to take the initiative and responsibility in giving light and hope to the needy, especially the children. It will be these children who will shape our nation one day; and seeing all 80 of them laughing and smiling is already a spark of hope- that’s a Christmas gift to the Company.” ends Chiew.
